Summary
| This event took place some time before the Battle of Yavin.The Rebel Alliance discovered a temporary Imperial staging base and that a convoy consisting a freighter and an escort of TIE fighters was about to land there. The Yellow Aces training squadron from Tierfon Outpost was given a two-stage mission: one unit of Yellow Aces was to attack the base and escape, drawing away the Imperial garrison's starfighters, while the rest of the squadron was to attack a freighter and capture it if possible. The squadron flew Y-Wings for the mission, intending to steal a badly needed shipment of food and fuel.The first phase went according to plan, but when the freighter approached, the Rebels saw that the TIE fighter escort was twice as large as intelligence had predicted. Kissek Doran, one of the squadron pilots, had a panic attack and took off in his Y-wing. The commander of the Yellow Aces ordered Jek Porkins and Wes Janson to either herd Doran back to formation or to shoot him down, as his flight could reveal the Aces' position. Porkins and Janson attempted to bring Doran back, but were unsuccessful. Wes Janson was forced to open fire on Doran with his Y-wing's laser cannons as energy pulse from ion cannon might have been detected and given away squadron's position. His shots cracked the cockpit of Doran's craft and vented the oxygen into space, exposure to vacuum killed Doran. | ||
